The Facing History and
Ourselves course is a class that can be taken at Westborough High School. It is
a class that takes you through a journey of learning more about yourself. It reflects on many events that have occurred
in our History, such as the Holocaust. These events like the Holocaust are discussed
in depth, and the events that took place are witnessed through films,
documentaries, articles, and class discussions. Nothing is left out and every
detail about such event is incorporated into the class. After most exercises or
films, the class is to blog about their thoughts and what they have learned. I
took this class because I am a huge fan of all the history courses and
electives available at Westborough High.
I had heard many great things about the class and have only heard it as
being rewarding and something that I must take. I am open to learning new
things and feel that there is always an opportunity to learn something new in
everything that I involve myself in. Taking Facing History has helped me learn who
I am as person by placing me in the shoes of others and learning about decision
making. Before entering the class, I had a huge interest in learning about the
Holocaust as I feel that it is important that everyone is educated on exactly
what happened in this horrible mark in history. I was excited to take the class
and was open to learning about myself more, especially since this was my last
semester as a high school student. College is a journey about finding who you are
as a person and this class provides a great opportunity to begin finding who
you are as high school comes to an end.
